The Energy and Environment Committee of the Los Angeles City Council met this morning to consider the Los Angeles Integrated Resources Plan (the IRP) and the Final EIR, which the Los Angeles Board of Public Works recommended for approval and certification on October 4, 2006. Rodney Andersen, Assistant Public Works Director and I attended the committee meeting. I submitted the comment letter addressed to Mr. Jawahar P. Shah dated October 31, 2006, and briefly testified before the Committee.
Los Angeles Public Works staff and a representative of the Los Angeles City Attorneys Office made brief comments about the merits of the Final EIR comments which failed to address any of the issues raised by Burbanks most recent comment letter. With very little discussion, the Energy and Environment Committee unanimously approved a motion by Council Member Labonge, seconded by Council Member Gruel, to recommend that the City Council certify the Final EIR and approve the IRP. It is anticipated that the full council will hear this matter on Tuesday, November 14, 2006.
