SUBJECT: ORDINANCE AMENDING ART IN PUBLIC PLACES COMMITTEE


 

PURPOSE:

 

The purpose of this report is to request City Council amend the Burbank Municipal Code, Chapter 2, Section 2-422 to change the composition of the Art in Public Places Committee by increasing the number of at large members.

 

BACKGROUND:

 

As currently structured, the Art in Public Places Committee is comprised of five members.  The membership consists of a Park, Recreation and Community Services Board member appointed by the Park, Recreation and Community Service Board; a Planning Board member appointed by the Planning board; and three members at large appointed by the City Council.  All City Council appointments are for four-year terms, and shall expire on a rotational basis. 

 

ANALYSIS:

 

Due to the upcoming term expiration on June 1, 2006, on May 23, 2006, staff requested Council make an appointment to the Art in Public Places Committee for one vacancy. There were five (5) applications received for the one vacancy.  During the meeting, Council requested that the number of at large members be increased from three (3) to five (5). 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

There is no fiscal impact as a result of the recommended action.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 

It is staff�s recommendation that the City Council amend the Burbank Municipal Code to increase the number of at large members for the Art in Public Places Committee.
