Opening Comments

Mayor Ramos stated the purpose of the meeting was to obtain input from the public and to hear the concerns and questions from members of the public about the proposed Airport Development Agreement between the City and Bob Hope Airport.  She noted there would be no formal presentation by staff, and outlined the procedure for oral communications as follows:  Speakers will turn in a blue speaker card to the City Clerk; each speaker will have an initial two-minute period to ask a question or make a comment; immediately following the two-minute period, the Council and staff may respond to the speaker, if appropriate; and, the speaker will then have an additional one-minute period to ask a follow-up question or make a closing comment.  There was Council consensus on the oral communications procedure outlined by Mayor Ramos.

Mayor Ramos also stated that a comment box was provided for members of the public who preferred to submit their comments to the Council in writing.

Ms. Riley, Senior Assistant City Attorney, added that speakers� comments would not be made part of the official record on the matter since the meeting was not a public hearing. She encouraged the public to attend the public hearing scheduled on January 18, 2005, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall if they desired their comments to be made part of the record.  She reiterated that any written comment cards submitted by the public will become a part of the public record.
