PURPOSE:
To request City Council acceptance of monies donated by Target Stores to the Burbank Police Department.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS:
In August, 2004, the Police Department received a donation from Target Stores in the amount of $1,580 to fund replacement equipment for our Youth Services Child Protection Program. The department would like to appropriate this money to replace equipment in the McGruff Program, which helps officers teach elementary school children about avoiding strangers and pedestrian safety. Funding will provide necessary supplies for this on-going investment in our youth.
The McGruff Program is presented to each elementary school throughout the school year by Burbank Police Department School Resource Officers. This program has been very successful in helping our officers teach young children valuable safety lessons.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To utilize monies generated by this donation, the Police Department is requesting that the budget be amended to appropriate $1,580 from Account 001-ND000-45000-1002 to Account 001-PD03A-70011-0000-15247.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending that the City Council express its appreciation to Target Stores and adopt a resolution amending the Fiscal Year 2004-2005 budget by appropriating the above donation in the amount of $1,580.
