PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to request the City Council approve the abolishment of the titles and specifications shown in the Exhibit A.
BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION
The City occasionally reviews its list of titles and specifications in an effort to abolish old and inactive classifications from the current files. This abolishment review was last conducted and presented to the City Council in 1995. Since then, the number of unused titles has multiplied due to reorganizations and other changes within the various departments. The affected departments and unions have reviewed and approved the titles and specifications listed in Exhibit A for abolishment. The Civil Service Board reviewed and approved Exhibit A at their regular meeting on August 12, 2004. These specifications, although abolished, will be permanently maintained in the Citys historical records for use in the future should our needs change.
ANALYSIS & CONCLUSION
The removal of the old and inactive titles and specifications from the Citys current files and computer programs will increase the Citys operational efficiency.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact from the abolishment of these titles and specifications.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council approve the abolishment of the titles and specifications as shown in Exhibit A.
Respectfully submitted, JUDIE SARQUIZ Management Services Director
