SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY�S OFFICE TO RETAIN OUTSIDE COUNSEL

PURPOSE

 

On July 28, 2004 the Clerk received claims from James and Deborah McMurray alleging that the Burbank City Attorney�s Office had filed a false claim of misconduct against James McMurray with the Los Angeles Police Department.

 

On August 10, 2004 the City Council authorized the City Attorney�s Office to retain the services of the law firm of Bannan, Green, Frank & Terzian LLP to represent the City of Burbank and the Chief Assistant City Attorney in this matter

 

FISCAL IMPACT

 

The cost to retain the Bannan, Green, Frank & Terzian LLP is unknown at this time, but will be covered by the General Liability Insurance Fund 530.  There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund associated with this action. 

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

Staff recommends the City Council adopt the proposed Resolution.
