PURPOSE

The purpose of this staff report is to request City Council selection of two Council Members to the Site Specific Selection Committee for art projects at BWP related to the Magnolia-Power Project (MPP) and water.

BACKGROUND

Efforts have been under way to look at BWP as a site for completing the City�s art commitment which was previously designated for the Water Reclamation Plant project.  Staff is currently in the process of forming a Site Specific Selection Committee, including City leadership, who will be responsible for selecting two significant Art in Public Places projects which focus on water and light elements, to be located in the view corridors of Olive Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard.

The Committee will view potential fountains and art pieces, including those displayed in Loveland, Colorado during their festival in August.  Loveland is the home of many large-piece artist shops, foundries, and permanent displays.  The City of Cerritos, who has many fountains and art pieces throughout their community, highly recommended the trip.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact for selecting two Council Members to the Site Specific Selection Committee.

RECOMMENDATION

It is Staff�s recommendation that the City Council select two Council Members to the Site Specific Selection Committee for art projects at BWP.
