PURPOSE

To revise the specification for the classification of Senior Civil Engineer/BWP CTC No. 0768, as shown in the attachment.

FACTS

1. These revisions clarify the duties of this position for the utility.  They also allow for any combination of education and/or experience to meet the minimum requirements for this position. This will enhance the department�s flexibility in recruiting qualified management candidates in this highly specialized field.

2. The Burbank Management Association will continue to represent this classification and has been advised of these revisions.

3. The General Manager - BWP concurs with these recommendations.

4. These revisions were approved by the Civil Service Board on May 6, 2003.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact from these revisions.

ANALYSIS & CONCLUSION

These revisions allow the applicants to be better prepared for the specialized duties and requirements of this classification. They also address the current demands of the department and give the flexibility needed to recruit in a highly specialized field.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the specification for the classification of Senior Civil Engineer/BWP CTC No. 0768 be revised as shown in Exhibit A.
