This resolution adjusts the salary of the Utility Telecommunications Manager, as shown in Exhibit A, to be the same as the Principal Electrical Engineer.

1. The Utility Telecommunication Manager was established on March 6, 2001, to be equal in pay to the Principal Electrical Engineer.
2. As a new position established during the middle of an existing MOU with the Burbank Management Association, it was not addressed by either side during the last negotiations.
3. This resolution adjusts the salary of the Utility Telecommunications Manager, as shown in Exhibit A, to be the same as the Principal Electrical Engineer. This change will result in an adjustment of 6.63% from the current $8,600 to $9,170 per month effective July 1, 2002.
4. The President of the Burbank Management Association has been advised of this change.
5. The General Manager - BWP concurs with these recommendations.

The annual increase in the base salary of the Utility Telecommunications Manger is estimated at $6,840. According to Burbank Water and Power, the FY2002 - 2003 budget approved by the Council has sufficient salary savings to allow for this increase.

The adjustment of the Utility Telecommunications Manager salary will improve the ability of Burbank Water and Power to recruit and retain appropriately qualified individuals.

Staff recommends that the salaries of the Utility Telecommunications Manager be adjusted as shown in Exhibit A.
